Yup, it's a tape recorder! The director of that music video (and, mind you, my favourite director!) Richard Ayoade likes old-fashioned films! And he records everything with old cameras and traditional techniques!
He's also responsible for this beauty: (seriously, it's so beautifully filmed and NOEL FIELDING AS VLAD THE IMPALER)

That sound like me, I love to do stuff on old cameras, I dont like doing stuff on that newer hi tech stuff that takes the cool effects of the photos away, and the old cameras can also have a better chance at caching ghost much better.

If only if I had a video of the time when we where in a house and ghost jumped up in front of us and ran off and vanished into nothing. There real jay, you just don't know it, I'm sure your part of the world is vary haunted, think how many lives where killed in all the wars in your area had have over the years, world war two was really bad in your area.
